Bananas contain chemicals that are believed to repel many common allergies. So, enjoy one with breakfast or lunch! Obviously, if you are allergic to bananas, this is not recommended! Adding Watercress to your salads and sandwich's and other meals will add its vitamin rich and anti-allergen benefits to your diet as well. Watercress has a pretty strong taste; so eating a small amount at a time is the best way to handle its potency.
Other foods that are known to help your body fight against allergens are: Fruits and vegetables that are bright shades of red, orange yellow – these are rich in beta carotenes and are useful in combating hayfever! Dark green, leafy vegetables and greens also help rid the body of toxins. Adding seeds and bean sprouts to salads and soups is also beneficial.
Taking an herbal tea may give some relief as well. Suggested teas are Chamomile, Goldenrod, Lemon Balm and Dandelion.
Reducing foods that cause mucus will help with chest congestion. Dairy products replaced with alternatives such as soy are less likely to aggravate allergies. Wheat products and refined foods such as white breads, sugar and pasta can be replaced with whole grain versions. Alcohol, tea and coffee should also be eliminated, or at the bare minimum limited to one or two drinks a day. Substitute water and herbal teas and you'll feel better all year long!
