Anemia Natural Home Remedies

Anemia is a common condition in which a person’s blood lacks iron. This reduces the blood’s ability to carry oxygen through the body, resulting in fatigue, listlessness and lethargy.

The natural and most obvious solution is to eat foods rich in iron, such as beef, spinach, liver, oysters and baked potato skins. You can also add wheat germ to foods to increase the iron content. Other foods that are high in iron content are:

Venison
o Sardines
o Turkey
o Chicken
o Cod
o Blackstrap molasses
o Iron-fortified breakfast cereals
o Soybeans
o Lentils
o Turnip greens
o Bulgur
o Grape Juice
Bananas with honey

In addition to the foods above, there are some great "snack" you can enjoy to boost your iron levels, such as dried figs, dried apricots, raisins, beet juice, and currants. Adding a spinach salad to your meals will also provide needed iron. Add to your salad some watercress, radish, kohlrabi, raisins, garlic apple pieces, and chives. All of these are loaded with iron!

It is best to avoid coffee, tea and chocolate, because caffeine decreases your body’s ability to absorb iron! An herbal tea made of dandelion or nettle is rich in iron, and delicious sweetened with honey!

Stimulating the production of red blood cells can be done by getting 20 minutes of direct sunlight a day, and practicing deep breathing exercises. The deep breathing will help oxygenate your blood and help aid in the production of new red blood cells. In the case of a severe iron deficiency, medical intervention is necessary. A consultation with your physician is recommended for blood tests to determine the severity of your anemia.
