Asthma Home Remedies

Asthma is a chronic disease, which affects your airways and lungs. There is no "cure" for asthma, but there are definite herbal remedies you can do at home to help the condition!

Honey has been used in treating asthma for centuries. You can drink it in milk, water, or an herbal tea and it will help thin mucus from the respiratory system.
Garlic is another useful remedy. Drinking ten cloves of garlic that have been boiled in cupful’s amount of milk helps many with the early stages of an asthma attack.
Tumeric is one of the most common treatments that many find help relive their symptoms. Taken with a glass of milk a couple of times a day, it will help to prevent asthma attacks.

Eat three to six apricots a day. They may help promote healing of lung and bronchial conditions.
Figs are useful in clearing mucus from bronchial tubes. If you take them in the morning (on an empty stomach) after letting them soak overnight you may notice a decrease in asthmatic episodes. Don’t forget to drink the water!

Equally as important as the foods and herbs you decide to take to treat your asthma is learning places and situations to avoid.
Smoke filled rooms can bring on an attack almost immediately! This includes smoke from tobacco products and fireplaces and woodstoves.
Stay out of cold weather. Easier said then done, so if you must go outside when it is cold, keep a scarf to cover your mouth and nose. Cold air can trigger an asthma attack, so limit your time in the weather to a bare minimum!

Dairy products and highly refined foods increase the mucus in your chest. If you cannot switch to soy and whole-wheat products, limit your intake of them!
