Coughing is a necessary and involuntary human reflex, It helps to rid our bodies of mucus build up. We all cough several times a day without ever really noticing it. It is only when a foreign substance or an illness aggravates it further that it becomes an annoyance.
So, on those occasions when you do find yourself ill and hacking away, I have compiled some of my favorite home remedies for coughs!
Take about an inch of ginger, sliced super thin or grated, a half of a lemon sliced (including peel), a clove of garlic and boil it in two cups of water. Simmer it for twenty minutes, then make yourself a cup of tea with it and sweeten with a big spoonful of honey!
For an instant fix take a spoon of honey and a dash of white pepper twice a day. In about three days your cough will be gone!
You can also make a gargle from elder blossom tea mixed with sage leaf, almond oil, oil of clove, and honey. The gargle will help sooth your cough!

A home made cough syrup made up of the juice from a lemon, one cup of honey and a half a cup of olive oil (cooked together for five minutes) taken every two hours will help sooth your poor throat.
Make a lemon drink from the juice of a lemon mixed with hot water and honey. Add a couple of cloves or a stick of cinnamon. This is soothing and will help you sleep!
