Dark Eye Circles Natural Home Remedies

Almost 90% of the population suffers from dark under eye circles at some point in their lives! No wonder it, along with acne, are the two most common facial complaints! Dark circles under your eyes are usually caused by one of three things. The first is bone structure; if you have deep-set eyes, shadows collect underneath them. The second is the over all color of your skin – some people just have naturally darker skin under their eyes! The third is a combination of genetics (gee, thanks mom!) and allergies or vitamin deficiencies constricting blood flow in that area.

You can also Place chilled cucumber slices over your eyes, apply a cooled tea bag (preferably chamomile) to your eyes for 30 minutes or soak a cotton square in milk or witch hazel and let it sit on your eyes for a half an hour or so!

Another option is to use grated potato juice to lighten the circle. Finely grates the potatoes. Then strain them through cheesecloth into a bowl, so as not to lose the juices. Then use tissue or a folded cotton square to place on the dark area. Be careful not to get any of the juice into your eye!

Another remedy (one my grandmother used to do) is to mix a small portion of mayonnaise and lemon juice and apply it to the area. But do not get it in your eyes! Lemon juice stings! Sounds odd, but it works! Grated potatoes can lighten under-eye circles. Potatoes contain an enzyme called catecholase, which is used in cosmetics as a human skin lightener. Run one spud through your food processor and stuff the raw mash into a piece of cheesecloth. Apply to the area directly beneath your eye — don't let the potato juice come in contact with the eye itself — and leave for 15 to 20 minutes. Wipe away the starchy residue
