Dysentery Homemade Cures

Dysentery is a disease that is most often found in foreign countries – typically rural, low-income countries such as those found in Africa and Southeast Asia- although it can occur anywhere! Dysentery causes severe diarrhea and stomach pains, and quite often there is blood in the feces. Some types include vomiting and fever. You contact dysentery from eating contaminated foods, or coming into contact with people who are carrying the disease.

One of the traditional cures for dysentery is bael fruit. You mix the pulp of the fruit with a little honey or jaggery to sweeten it and take a tablespoon three times a day. Pomegranate rind is another effective remedy for dysentery. Boil the rind in some milk. After it cools, take it at three different intervals. This should clear up the disease rather quickly.

Taking three tablespoons of lemon juice three times a day will also help cure the disease.

The seeds of ribbed gourds (pumpkin, butternut squash, etc) contain a chemical, which helps to cure acute and chronic amoebic dysentery. About five to ten grams of the seeds can be given with one cup of buttermilk twice daily with beneficial results in amoebic dysentery.
If you are suffering from heaviness in the stomach you can take about 5 tablespoons of castor oil in a cup of milk three times daily. This will help the hardened stools pass easier. Other remedies include mixing small onion pieces (or the pulp of an onion) with curd and honey. A few tablespoons of this several times a day will help rid you of the disease.
