Treating Atherosclerosis with Natural Homemade Remedies

Atherosclerosis is the hardening and narrowing of the arteries. It is caused by the slow buildup of plaque on the inside of walls of the arteries. This develops for many reasons, including high cholesterol, smoking and a sedentary lifestyle.

There are many home remedies for treating atherosclerosis but the most important is to stop smoking (if you smoke) and to get regular exercise. Once you commit to do that, you can commence with these other remedies to help your body heal itself! Here is a list of foods that will help your heart!

Papaya, honey and apples make a wonderful fruit salad! Not only does this taste good, but also studies suggest that eating two large apples a day can reduce your cholesterol levels up to 16%! Apples are also believed to help form a "gel" in the stomach, which helps keep fat from being totally absorbed!
o Avocado’s also lower cholesterol levels. The fat in the avocado is the "good" fat, so there is no need to worry about it! Avocado’s are also high in other vitamins and minerals, all of which your body needs!
o Taking a fenugreek capsule of 580mg with each meal. These help lower cholesterol and are easier to measure the amount than eating the actual seeds.
o You can raise your "good" cholesterol (HDL) by consuming 1000mg of vitamin C.
o Omega-3 fatty acids break down cholesterol in blood vessels, and also serve as a solvent for saturated fats in the diet. This results in a reduction of cholesterol.

Here are some other tips to lower and keep your cholesterol under control:
o Have your blood pressure checked regularly
o Stop smoking
o Switch to a low fat diet and eat foods high in fiber!
o Exercise!
o Take a baby aspirin everyday

Consult with your physician to determine your optimal cholesterol level and blood pressure range. By taking these steps, your heart health, as well as overall health will improve dramatically in time!
